Sussex County - Player Development Programme (PDP) Information

England Netball's Performance Pathway

The Performance Pathway is England Netball's process for developing athletes with the attributes to attain excellence. The programmes within the pathway are focused on developing athletes to reach their potential and form the foundations to enable England Netball to be the Number 1 Ranked Team in the World.

The Performance Pathway programme provides performance-enhancing training for individuals, not squads. Competition takes place outside the Performance Pathway Programme, in club and school competition.

The pathway begins at satellite level (u13), with counties working in partnership with England Netball to deliver development acadmies as part of the Player Development Programme. Counties also hold responsibility for running county academies (u15), before the Superleague franchises take ownership of pathway delivery (u17 and above).

You can find below further details for the U13 & u15 county screening events for athletes wishing to enter / return to the pathway in the 2024/25 playing season. 

Please pay particular attention to screening dates, and deadlines for applications. Sussex County will not accept late submission of applications so it is essential your application is received before the deadline. 

Application forms can be completed by parents/guardians of athletes but you must first have obtained endorsement from the athlete's school or club coach to put them forward and their details must be included on the application form. 

Information for U13 athletes

Applications are invited from athletes who are currently in Year 6 or 7 (u11 or u12 age groups)
Athletes who are selected from this screening event will be required to attend a final selection event in September date TBC. If successful, athletes must be able to commit to weekly training sessions on a Tuesday night at Davidsons. 
Neutral selectors will be in attendance at this screening event to assist with selecting athletes.
Please be mindful that participation in the PDP is restricted to talented athletes within your school/clubs. 
This information should be borne in mind when submitting applications for the trials. 
We kindly ask that schools nominate no more than 4 outstanding players.  
Trial applications will only be accepted if completed by a club coach or school teacher.

Date: Sunday 23rd June 2024
Venue: University of Brighton, Hard Courts, Village Way, Falmer, Brighton, BN1 9PH
Time: 9am - 1pm
Screening Fee: £10 per athlete, payable in cash on the day

Information for U15 athletes

Applications are invited from athletes who are current Year 8 or 9 (u13 or u14 age groups)
Athletes who are selected from this screening event will be required to attend a final selection event in September date TBC.
If successful, athletes must be able to commit to weekly training sessions on a Wednesday night in Worthing. 
Neutral selectors and Surrey Storm representatives will be in attendance at this screening event to assist with selecting athletes to progress to the final trial in September as well as identifying any athletes that they would like to see at U17 Surrey Storm trials in September 2024. 
Please be mindful that participation in the PDP is restricted to talented athletes within your school/clubs. 
This information should be borne in mind when submitting applications for the trials. 
We kindly ask that schools nominate no more than 4 outstanding players.  
Trials applications will only be accepted from club coaches or teachers.
